Rijksoverheid
Pitch Rijkslogo;
For a long time the Netherlands had different visual identities for each of its eighty-plus government bodies. For reasons of cost efficiency and communication effectiveness, the Dutch government decided to bring all government communication under one identity. Thonik was among the five agencies invited to pitch for a new government logo. The studio searched for a symbol that would instantly be linked to the Netherlands nationally and internationally. Two coloured bars of the flag seemed to do the trick. The white line spacing in between served as a measurement for the placement of the typography. A colour system that combined clear colours with a grey tone was added for differentiation purposes.
The government inexplicably chose another proposal.
