Text messaging was the inspiration for the logo and identity of the Amsterdam Museumnacht, an annual event when the city's museums open at night. Eight in Dutch is 'acht' and preceding it with an 'N' creates the word 'nacht', meaning night. The full name of Museumnacht was thus abbreviated to n8. Amazingly, the press quickly adopted the abbreviation in their reports. Each year Thonik looked for ways of updating the identity of each 'n8' event with a new image to accompany the logo.
